5 Big Choices from 20s That Built My Life's Rhythms

20s - The decade of firsts! How it shaped my life and beyond!

I turned 30 this month. 🎂

This is a strange but beautiful milestone, and it’s made me reflect deeply on the last decade.

I’m not someone who usually writes long essays — but I like pushing my boundaries. So here I am, starting a newsletter and sharing a piece of my story.

Your 20s are filled with firsts: your first job, first business, first city. For some, your first shot at love and marriage. It's a decade of exploration, of choices and chances. Looking back, there are five key decisions I made in my 20s that I believe will shape the next chapter of my life.

  1. The first job that taught me to think big

  2. The teammates who became family

  3. The relationship that grounded me

  4. The hours that built my habits

  5. The places that expanded my perspective

Some were deliberate, others accidental — but each one shaped who I am today.

1. The First Job

I still remember my first job — not just for the paycheck, but for what it gave me: room to explore, make mistakes, and grow. I was lucky to work with a boss who trusted me and gave me the freedom to figure things out on my own.

By 22, I was working on scaling products for millions of users and even extending frameworks like Laravel to meet custom needs. That early exposure wasn’t just technical training — it was my crash course in building, solving real problems, and thinking at scale. Lessons I carry to this day as a founder.

2. The Teammates

Entrepreneurship is lonely — more than most people realize. There are moments of doubt, endless forks in the road, and a constant fear of the unknown.

But what helped me get through it was having the right people by my side.

I’ve been lucky to have co-founders like Tushar and Jenish — people who’ve stood beside me through every high and low.  We’ve argued, brainstormed, pushed each other, and kept going. We’ve never stopped believing in what we’re building.

And then there’s our team — 60+ people who show up every day, cheer on the small wins, and keep fighting when things get tough. I’m thankful for all of them. They make this journey worth it.

3. The Relationship

This one’s personal — and probably the most defining decision of all.

If you’re building anything from scratch — especially a startup — chaos becomes part of life. There’s pressure, there are setbacks, and there are moments that test your spirit.

Through all of this, I had Hema Gami by my side. She's been my calm after the storm, my biggest cheerleader, and the one who keeps me grounded. Her simple “It’s going to be alright” has carried me through more tough days than I can count. I feel incredibly lucky to have her and couldn’t have asked for a better partner.

4. How I Spent My Time

Time is the one resource you never get back. And in your 20s, it’s so easy to waste it — endless distractions, comparison loops, noise that feels urgent but isn’t.

But looking back, I’m glad I chose to spend most of my time learning and building. For the first 5 years, I didn’t take a day off — not even Sundays or New Year’s. I kept learning, talking to clients, attending events, and meeting new people.

That discipline built the mindset and resilience I rely on today. It wasn’t always fun — but it was always worth it..

5. Where I Lived

In the last decade, I’ve lived in four cities — and each one changed me in unexpected ways. They brought new friends, new perspectives, and quietly pushed me to become more of who I truly am.

The first city gave me wings. The second taught me how to fly. In the third, I truly soared. And now, in the fourth city, I'm gearing up to go beyond orbit — to break old limits, dream bolder, and explore what's truly possible.

Where you live is more than a pin on the map — it’s the backdrop of your becoming. Each place nudged me toward growth, and for that, I’m grateful.

Being intentional about this made a big difference.

Looking Back. Looking Ahead.

Your 20s move fast. You can’t control everything — but the decisions you make, even the smallest ones, add up. They shape your story.

As I step into my 30s, I carry with me a deep sense of gratitude for the path so far — and a quiet excitement for what’s to come.

If you’re in your 20s, here’s my only advice:

Choose intentionally. Reflect often. And surround yourself with people who help you become your best self.

One day, your 30-year-old self will look back — and thank you.

Here’s to the next decade — grounded in experience, fueled by dreams, and ready for what’s next.

Dreaming big by day, and even bigger by night.

Thanks for reading.

If this resonated with you, I’d love for you to stick around.

Let’s grow together — one decision, one decade at a time.
